I stumbled across the blurb for The Water is Wide on Facebook and immediately looked it up. I won't lie, the cover didn't do much for me at the time but there was just something about it that kept calling to me. I finally got the opportunity to dive in and holy smokes, I didn't want it to end. When people tell you they start to slow down on their reading because a story is THAT GOOD and they don't want to reach the end, this is, in fact, what happened with me. The more I read, the more I wanted to push it away. And while I had to know how it ended, I kept wanting the story to go on and on forever. The author sort of bounced back and forth with past and present scenes which were clearly recognizable at the beginning of the chapters. This style added depth to the story and to me, was exactly what was needed so that the reader got a full understanding of what was happening.
I instantly liked Sarah and Thomas. The way they met and fell in love, the few bumps in the road with her parents, the immense love they had for one another, Banks set the foundation for this story to grab hold of the reader and suck them in. When tragedy struck, I was literally on the edge of my seat. I couldn't believe such a model family deserved something so awful to happen to them.
The struggles that Sarah endured were real and heartbreaking. I hurt for her, for her sons, for her to find peace again. Who knew that years later, she'd run into someone that could put that spark back into her life again. The story surrounding Collin Young is brilliant and I almost felt like he was too good to be true.
Character development is critical in stories like this one and the author nailed it perfectly. Let me just say, for this to be a debut author, Natalie Banks created a beautiful masterpiece with The Water is Wide and I'm so glad I gave this story and this author a chance! It had everything--love, suspense, heartache, second-chance, intrigue. The author covered it all and done it well. Great job on this amazing story that is going to stay in the back of my mind for a long time. Five well-deserving stars!!

What a great read! I am not surprised when this exciting romance thriller becomes an actual Netflix movie! The story is epic and very captivating. You will want to read this book when traveling somewhere warm and exotic! Once you have started, it is impossible to stop reading.
I must say I loved this book. My husband died 20 years ago and I have not been able to read a book to the end. If they don't start out interesting to me in the beginning, I get bored. This book kept my attention! I look forward to Natalie's next book!!
I honestly did not expect to love this book as much as I did! I was hooked from the start and every chapter left me wanting more. This is not your typical love story! I will definitely be recommending this book to all my friends. I cannot wait for more from Natalie Banks!
This is a great snuggle in with a glass of wine or cup of cocoa, marathon read, kind of book! You feel as if you know the characters and Natalie Banks manages to deliver both mystery and romance in one fell swoop. Eagerly awaiting her next book...
Love and have read both books by Natalie Banks. This one kept me on edge. Good characters. Page turner. I will continue to read any books Natalie publishes.
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you've finished reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call that person up on the phone whenever you felt like it and tell them how much you enjoyed this beautifully written story. It just so happens that I can do just that.
I loved this book! A quick read that has it all, sex, love, loss, mystery - all in great setting. The writing carries you along and the plot won't let you go! I couldn't wait to get to the end, but at the same time, I was sad to finish it. Recommended for all fans for romantic mystery!
